ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Dec. 14, 2022 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”), recently provided a grant to Kitchen Angels to support northern New Mexico mothers in need with free meals as they transition home from the hospital after giving birth. The grant is part of the MolinaCares for Families initiative, in which MolinaCares has committed over $400,000 to various community-based organizations to improve access to care statewide, especially in areas of maternal and child care and behavioral health care.

Kitchen Angels is a Santa Fe-based organization providing healthy meals to those who are homebound living with life-challenging conditions. Over its 30 years of operation, Kitchen Angels has provided over 1.7 million meals to about 7,700 individuals. The MolinaCares grant funding expands support for new mothers by ensuring healthy meal delivery to provide adequate nutrition during this critical period for the health of both mother and baby

“Molina is committed to supporting mothers and children in New Mexico and working to ensure improved health outcomes for New Mexico families,” said Carolyn Ingram, plan president of Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. “We are proud to partner with Kitchen Angels as they support mothers and families welcoming a newborn into their lives.”

“We are incredibly grateful to MolinaCares for its support of our programs and organization,” said Tony McCarty, executive director for Kitchen Angels. “At Kitchen Angels, we know that healthy meals can make a huge difference in the lives of those experiencing a life-changing event, such as the birth of a child, especially for families in need. This MolinaCares grant will empower us to serve more New Mexico families.”
