COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 10, 2021 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Ohio (“Molina”), is proud to support and participate in the ribbon cutting of Equitas Health’s first mobile health care unit, which will be used to serve LGBTQ Ohioans who are not able to travel to office-based clinical care. The mobile health unit will travel to Ohio’s rural and underserved communities, providing comprehensive primary health care, urgent care procedures, and preventative screenings – including HIV and hepatitis C screenings as well as initiation of linkage to care services for people with reactive screenings.
“Molina is excited to participate in today’s ribbon cutting for the mobile health care unit and to support the mission of Equitas Health,” said Ami Cole, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Ohio. “Molina is committed to providing access to culturally-competent care in the communities we serve.”
The mobile unit will help address inequalities exacerbated by the pandemic by:
- Distributing personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, masks, hand sanitizer, soap, disinfecting wipes, and more.
- Providing COVID-19 and HIV educational materials for individuals experiencing homelessness or using injectable drugs.
“We are grateful for MolinaCares’ generous support with the mobile health care unit,” said Bill Hardy, Equitas Health president and chief executive officer. “This mobile unit will help us reach more LGBTQ Ohioans who are in need of care but may face barriers to reaching our facilities.”
Ribbon cuttings for the mobile health care unit were held last week in Columbus and Dayton:
