RICHMOND, Va. – July 18, 2023 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Virginia (“Molina”), is donating $40,000 to Magnolia Rose in support of their emergency shelter program. This program helps victims of human trafficking by providing placement in safe apartments, access to detox and recovery services, counseling and essential supplies.

This program has served over 100 survivors of human trafficking since 2020 with the goal of empowering individuals mentally and economically to rebuild their lives. The MolinaCares donation will enable survivors to access a 24/7 shelter program and comprehensive health care services, providing individuals with resources to address physical, mental and social health issues that improve their ability to thrive independently.

According to data from the National Human Trafficking Hotline, the organization identified 1,689 cases of human trafficking and 3,573 victims in the state of Virginia between 2007 to 2021.

“MolinaCares is proud to support Magnolia Rose’s program, which is critical in assisting some of our most vulnerable and voiceless neighbors,” said Darrin Johnson, plan president for Molina Healthcare of Virginia. “This program brings hope and health care for individuals who may have nowhere else to turn.”

Magnolia Rose is a nonprofit organization providing survivors with gainful employment and vocational opportunities. The organization believes developing new skills will lead survivors to job opportunities in the local community and build a career path they can take pride in.

“We are extremely grateful for this grant from MolinaCares,” said Kristan Crummett-Dollar, co-founder and executive director of Magnolia Rose. “It will help us provide further physical and psychological support to victims in the Shenandoah community and equip them with the skills they need to live independent, healthy and safe lives.”
