AUSTELL, Georgia, Oct. 24, 2023 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”) recently presented Wellstar Foundation with a $50,000 grant to support their Doula Labor and Soul Support programs.

Prenatal maternal care is critical to building healthier communities. The MolinaCares grant will fund the Doula Labor program to expand personalized, quality maternal care services to expectant mothers in Georgia. Funding will support the training and onboarding of new doulas and enhance materials for mothers who may look to advocate for themselves when doulas are not present.

“The support of trusted advocates and community members can have a substantial impact on one’s quality of care, especially related to maternal and mental health,” said Carolyn Ingram, executive director of The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation. “The MolinaCares Accord is proud to partner with Wellstar Foundation to facilitate greater access to needed health care and supplemental resources to aid Georgia’s families statewide.”

The MolinaCares grant will also fund Wellstar Health System’s Soul Support program, which focuses on mental health education and mitigating the stigma associated with mental health care. Soul Support offers support services including workshops that equip community-based leaders with the skills and resources needed to encourage those struggling with mental health issues to obtain the care they need.

“For Wellstar to deliver world-class health care to every person, every time, support from our community partners is critical,” said Julie Teer, senior vice president of Wellstar Health System and president of Wellstar Foundation. “It enables us to expand access to care and improve health outcomes in a transformational way. Mental health support is among our top priorities, and we are grateful for the generosity of MolinaCares.”
