The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation and NyE Communities Coalition Launch New Transportation Program to Ensure Timely Access to Care for Rural Nevadans

Pahrump, Nev., June 24, 2025 — The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”), awarded a $10,000 grant to NyE Communities Coalition (“NyECC”) in support of a new transportation program that will bridge barriers to care for Nye, Lincoln, and Esmeralda County residents living in under-resourced and geographically isolated areas.
In Nevada’s rural and frontier communities, a lack of reliable transportation was identified as the most significant barrier to accessing health care for over 7% of residents. This grant will fund repairs and maintenance for NyECC vehicles transporting residents to health and social services, including medical appointments, mental health support, and community resources.
“Molina’s commitment to Nevada includes understanding what our communities need and finding solutions to address them,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “Molina aims to enhance transportation assistance in rural areas so residents can be empowered to take action when it comes to receiving care and social services that help improve health outcomes.”
Beginning June 2025, Nye, Lincoln, and Esmeralda community residents can access free transportation services, either through NyECC’s vehicles or fuel-only vouchers.
“Rural areas of Nevada face significant challenges in accessing health care, and rural Nevadans without transportation resources face even greater obstacles to care,” said Stacy Smith, CEO of NyE Communities Coalition. “We appreciate Molina’s support that will provide transportation services to our rural communities, bridging a significant barrier to care and creating a healthier Silver State.”
