LOUISVILLE, Ky., November 19, 2025Passport by Molina Healthcare (“Passport”), in collaboration with the Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation (“MolinaCares”), announced a $15,000 grant to Pillar, a nonprofit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The funding supported the organization’s House 2 Home initiative which provides residence and aid for those in Pillar’s care.

House 2 Home is comprised of 17 homes with three residents each, staffed 24 hours per day, with individual bedrooms and bathrooms and a shared kitchen and living area to foster connection and comfort. Each resident works with a direct support professional to achieve goals outlined in their person-centered plans, in addition to assisting with daily tasks.

Passport is one of several local donors who answered Pillar’s call to assist with the mortgages of its residences. Because of its donation, Passport was given the honor of naming a home after an apple – a nod to Pillar’s roots, originally founded as the Apple Patch Community.

“Pillar is so grateful for our partnership with Passport by Molina Healthcare, which helped to pay off the mortgages owed on our homes securing them forever for people with disabilities,” said Karri Gerdemann, executive director of Pillar. “Thanks to their support, our organization is now debt free and poised for growth.”

Pillar says with the mortgages now paid, it can allocate more resources to its engagement centers and day programming for those with disabilities. The organization has four engagement centers – one in the Russell Neighborhood, two in Crestwood, and one in the Bon Air neighborhood.

“Passport is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals in the communities we serve, and with the help of MolinaCares, we proudly support this work that helps vulnerable Kentuckians remain engaged in the community,” said Nicole Yates, AVP of growth and community engagement for Passport. “We are grateful for Pillar’s commitment to those with disabilities and their families through the House 2 Home initiative and engagement center programming.”
