MolinaCares Prioritizes Women’s Health Care
It’s no secret that women face unique challenges to health and wellness, frequently because we put others ahead of our own care. That’s why throughout Women’s Health Care Month Molina was focused on supporting the physical and mental health of women throughout the state, encouraging them to prioritize their well-being and equipping them with the tools to live a healthy, fulfilled life.
Below are just some of the ways Molina Healthcare of Texas prioritized women’s health in May:
Women’s Health Fair:
Molina partnered with Gustavia Pearls Women’s Outreach to sponsor a Women’s Health Fair, featuring resources such as free screenings, and food and health information. Event partners TSU Breast Cancer Prevention, Busy Bee Wellness Center, and the Houston Health Department were on-site to provide free HIV screenings, set up mammogram appointments, and offer child immunizations for COVID-19 and the flu. Attendees also had the opportunity to receive free cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, nutrition tips, CPR demonstrations, career resources, and behavioral health information.
Wellness Fair for El Paso Moms
In partnership with El Paso Child Guidance Center and Aliviane, Molina hosted a wellness and self-care event in support of El Paso moms. The event featured mental health resources for parents as well as tools for advocating for their children. Attendees were treated to self-care gifts, stress-management exercises, live music, and information on Molina’s benefits.
Mommy and Me Teatime
Alongside the North Pasadena Community Outreach Center, Molina hosted a Mommy and Me Teatime for local moms and their pre-school aged children. Presentations on nutrition and the Texas Health Steps Program were provided by event partners Maximus, Texas WIC and the Pasadena Library.
