Moreno Valley, CA, May 2, 2022 – Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”) and Riverside University Health System – Foundation (RUHS – Foundation) collected 3,620 bras during a monthlong drive that concluded Friday, April 29, to benefit sexual violence survivors in Riverside County.

The bras will be provided to women who have undergone forensic exams at Riverside University Health System – Medical Center following sexual violence, a process that often requires women to leave behind their bras for evidence. Molina and RUHS – Foundation worked with community partners for a month to collect the bras, which were delivered to the Foundation’s office in Moreno Valley, CA.

To support the Bra Drive, Molina Healthcare Community Engagement identified community partners to host bins for bras. Molina’s efforts and collaboration with RUHS underscores their commitment to well-being and total health initiatives that uplift communities in tangible ways.

“Molina is hopeful that this event provides women undergoing forensic exams with a bit more privacy and comfort following their medical appointment,” said Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “We are thrilled to partner with the RUHS – Foundation to build on the important work of their medical center and provide support to the women of Riverside County that depend on their services.”

“We are grateful for the partnership of Molina and everyone else who made this drive successful. ” said Nicole Peterson Orr, Riverside University Health System – Foundation Executive Director. “We want every survivor of sexual violence to know that we see you, we hear you and we support you.”

Volunteers were onsite April 29 at the RUHS – Foundation office to help sort and count the bras. RUHS – Foundation leadership and Molina Healthcare of California plan president, Abbie Totten, were also on-site along with Riverside County Fifth District Supervisor Jeff Hewitt and Riverside County Second District Supervisor Karen Spiegel.
