Molina Healthcare of Virginia Donates $10,000 to American Red Cross for Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief

RICHMOND, Va., October 1, 2024Molina Healthcare of Virginia (“Molina”) announced a $10,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to support recovery efforts remnants of Hurricane Helene caused significant damage throughout the southwest region of the commonwealth. Molina employees are also on the ground supporting disaster victims. 

Molina’s community engagement team delivered cleaning supplies to Damascus, in Washington County, one of the hardest hit towns in the area. Employees have volunteered to help receive and distribute donations in Giles, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe Counties as well. Additionally, case managers are working with those who need assistance coordinating medical care. Loss of electricity, impassible roads and destruction of buildings have interrupted health care access.

“Those impacted by this historic weather event are our neighbors, friends and family, and we are committed to helping them recover,” said Bill Phipps, plan president for Molina Healthcare of Virginia. “Through donations and work with community organizations, we are supporting the communities we serve. Molina encourages fellow Virginians to join us in supporting the disaster relief fund of the American Red Cross to help their fellow neighbors in this time of great need.”
