IRVING, Tex., August 6, 2025Molina Healthcare of Texas’ Grandparents Social Club hosted a sun safety event for members of the Heritage Senior Center.

Designed to provide information on sun safety and simple steps to lower the risk of sunburn or melanoma, this free event featured many helpful resources.

In the U.S., 1 in 5 people will develop skin cancer by age 70. Melanoma, the deadliest form, is largely caused by UV exposure. Both UVA and UVB rays from the sun can damage skin cells, causing premature aging, sunburns, and a greater risk of skin cancer. Just one blistering sunburn in childhood or adolescence can double the risk of melanoma later in life.

Attendees received individual sunscreen packs, water bottles, paper fans and more. Light refreshments were also served.
