Molina Healthcare of New York Hosts Baby Shower for New and Expectant Mothers in Underserved Communities

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 17, 2025 – Molina Healthcare of New York (“Molina”), in partnership with Ibero-American Action League, held a baby shower for mothers and those expecting newborns in the Rochester area. Community partners were on hand with information about pre- and post- natal care available in both English and Spanish. Molina representatives also answered benefit and health care access questions. Participants received free baby bottles, medicine spoons, mini hot-and-cold packs and thermal tote bags.
The shower was designed to connect families to resources that will increase the chances for healthy pregnancies and early childhoods among communities with disparate birth outcomes. The infant mortality rate in Monroe County for Hispanic children is two times higher (6.5%), and for Black children three times higher (11.9%), compared to white infants (3.2%). Low birthweight rates are also a concern for Hispanic (11.4%) and Black (16.1%) infants, which is considerably higher than for white children (6.5%).
The event was also supported by Jordan Health and Healthy Baby Network.
