Molina Healthcare of New Mexico Sponsors KRQE Cares Charitable Effort to Purchase Shoes for Disadvantaged Children

Over the last seven years, KRQE-TV’s charitable arm, KRQE Cares, has put more than 22,000 new pairs of shoes on the feet of New Mexico children through its Shoes for Kids program. Molina Healthcare of New Mexico, a proud sponsor, recently helped promote the KRQE Cares Phone Bank with the aim of increasing donations.

The effort is focused primarily on students at Title I schools with economically disadvantaged populations. KRQE Cares says it sees students wearing shoes well beyond their usage and, in some cases, using shoes borrowed from siblings. With new shoes, children walk out – literally – feeling great about themselves, about the way they look, and about the days ahead. Aside from increasing self-esteem, new shoes can help kids more comfortably engage in physical activity, building healthy lifestyle habits that will benefit them in the future.

For parents or guardians, this is one less stress in life, and is just one way Molina helps level the playing field for children in need.
