Albuquerque, N.M., May 23, 2022 — Last week, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”) visited wildfire evacuation sites across Northern New Mexico to distribute needed supplies, collected in collaboration with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, and provided fun games and activities to individuals and communities impacted by the fires.

“New Mexico is facing challenging times and Molina is committed to supporting the health and well-being of those affected by the historic wildfires while helping to provide some relief and levity,” said David Nater, plan president of Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. “I am grateful to the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce for their partnership in collecting the supplies we were quickly able to distribute on the ground.”

Events were held on May 18 and May 19 in Glorieta, Las Vegas, Mora and Taos where teams distributed cleaning and laundry products, diapers, games and utensils. The supplies distributed were collected through a community donation drive organized with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. The teams also provided fun activities, including a blender bike to make healthy smoothies and a rolling video game trailer for all ages.

When the fire broke out, The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), along  with Molina, donated $200,000 to support the relief efforts, in addition to providing shelter, food, water, and medical care to affected residents.

Molina New Mexico health plan members and providers affected by the fires can visit Molina’s member and provider portals for support or contact Buffie Saavedra, director of member and community engagement, at 505-269-8904.
