LAS VEGAS, April 3, 2025Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”) and Human Behavior Institute (“HBI”) recently announced the opening of HBI’s first-of-its-kind 24/7 independent integrated crisis intervention center in Nevada, developed with the support of a $200,000 grant from Molina. The new 23:59 Crisis Diversion Center will offer an alternative to traditional emergency room admissions, placing qualifying patients into coordinated care settings where they can be properly evaluated and receive wraparound services to support their health and wellbeing.

An average of 102 residents per day are in Nevada emergency rooms for behavioral health challenges. Through a grant partnership first established in 2023, Molina had the opportunity to support HBI in the early development of the 23:59 Crisis Diversion Center, where emergency departments can refer patients who do not fit the criteria for inpatient or outpatient services. In 2024, to help improve access to the center as it neared completion, Molina provided HBI with a $60,000 grant to fund a van that will help transport patients to the facility.

“Throughout my career as a psychiatrist, I have seen the important role wrapround care and support can play in addressing behavioral health challenges,” said Dr. Nicholas Hollister, behavioral health medical director, Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “As part of our collaborative efforts to address health care workforce shortages, Molina is proud to support this center that will alleviate burdens on emergency departments and move patients into more appropriate settings where they can receive the care they need.”

The center is the first and only independent facility in Nevada to offer comprehensive wraparound services under one roof, effectively bridging barriers to care. At the center, patients can access primary care, wellness exams, psychiatric support, medication management, mental health counselors, social services and 90-day emergency shelter. Support from Molina will also provide HBI clients with home-cooked meals, clothing, and transportation assistance, ensuring that Nevadans’ physical and holistic health needs are addressed.

“For over five years, HBI has been working on this center and Molina’s support has made this dream a reality,” said Dr. Anis Abi-Karam, president and clinical director of HBI. “Thank you to Molina for this partnership that sets a precedent for how visionary thinking and collaboration can lead to transformative health care solutions, bettering the community at large.”
