HASTINGS, Neb., November 14, 2025Molina Healthcare of Nebraska (“Molina”) announced a $5,000 donation to Crossroads Mission Avenue to support its food programs. The organization has shelter locations in Hastings, Grand Island and Kearney, where the guests receive three hot meals and community members can take home food boxes. Molina’s giving will also help fund two additional food distributions that Crossroads Mission Avenue hosts in Lexington and Broken Bow.

The donation comes at a busy time of year for shelters as the weather gets colder, and for food banks as both the holiday season and uncertainty of SNAP benefits have increased need. Last month alone, Crossroads Mission Avenue served 2,436 food boxes to families and 16,333 meals to those in need.

“This is a generous gift from Molina Healthcare of Nebraska, and it couldn’t have come at a better time as we have received higher-than-normal numbers of requests for food assistance,” said Daniel Buller, executive director of Crossroads Mission Avenue. “We are so thankful for this partnership, at this time, to meet this need. To Molina, we say, ‘Thank You.’”

According to Feeding America, Nebraska has a food insecurity rate of 14.5%. Adams (15.4%), Buffalo (14.5%), Dawson (15.3%) and Hall (15.3%) Counties – all served by Crossroads Mission Avenue – have food insecurity rates at or above the state average.

“Molina is committed to the health and well-being of the communities it serves and addressing food access is foundational to that commitment,” said Frank Clepper, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nebraska. “We applaud Crossroads Mission Avenue’s tireless efforts to meet this need, and we are proud to support them at a time when far too many Nebraskans are struggling.”
