DETROIT, August 7, 2026 – Molina Healthcare of Michigan (“Molina”) announced a $10,000 grant to the Pope Francis Center in support of its Bridge Housing Campus. The program gives individuals transitioning out of homelessness a temporary place to stay as they await permanent housing placement. The funding will support onsite services including medical and behavioral health care, recovery support, and life skills training.
Detroit has the highest concentration of individuals experiencing homelessness in the state of Michigan. The Detroit Continuum of Care reports that 20% of individuals return to homelessness within two years of obtaining permanent housing. More than half of these individuals return to homelessness within the first six months of being housed. This is higher than the national average. For those who successfully receive a permanent housing placement, the transition can be challenging. Molina’s funding will strengthen the Bridge Housing program to ensure its residents are better prepared for independent living.
“Molina’s support is making a transformative impact at Pope Francis Center’s Bridge Housing Campus, where individuals experiencing chronic homelessness receive the comprehensive support they need to heal, regain stability, and move toward independent living,” said Abby Adair, director of philanthropy, Pope Francis Center. “This investment reflects a deep commitment to restoring dignity and opportunity for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
“The Pope Francis Center’s Bridge Housing Campus aligns with Molina’s holistic approach to wellness by addressing the multiple issues contributing to chronic homelessness which is why we are proud to invest in its continued success,” said Terrisca Des Jardins, plan president, Molina Healthcare of Michigan.
