DETROIT, Mar. 6, 2026Molina Healthcare of Michigan (“Molina”), in collaboration with the MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), presented a grant to the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation to address disparities in health outcomes for students and their families. The donation will help fund services at Detroit Public School Community District Health Hubs throughout the city. The Foundation anticipates helping over 4,500 families throughout the duration of the grant.

There are nine Health Hubs at high schools across the district. Each hub provides support to meet the specific needs of each neighborhood. Hub supports include behavioral health services, after-school enrichment programs, food pantries, and dental and vision services. The district aims to have 12 total hubs, all funded by the Foundation through grants like this one from Molina.

“The DPSCD Foundation exists to ensure students have what they need to thrive, and our Health Hubs are a powerful extension of that mission,” said Kerrie Mitchell Campbell-Mabins, president and CEO of the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation. “They deliver real, daily support to families navigating challenges that can interfere with learning. This Molina Healthcare of Michigan and the MolinaCares grant amplifies our work and reinforces the strength of such collective efforts. Together, we are creating stronger pathways for students and building a more supportive school community across Detroit.”

“Molina Healthcare of Michigan and MolinaCares are proud to support these hubs designed to strengthen family stability and improve student academic success through a whole-person approach to wellness,” said Terrisca Des Jardins, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Michigan. “This is not only a commitment to address the immediate needs of Detroit families, but also an investment in the future of the community by supporting sustainable solutions with generational impact.”

The Foundation’s goal for the 2025-26 school year is to provide 1,000 physical health exams and 1,500 vision screenings to students in addition to 500 dental screenings and behavioral health visits for them and their families.
