Molina Healthcare of Illinois and Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport Increase Access to Care for Molina Medicaid Members
FREEPORT, Ill., July 7, 2026 — Molina Healthcare of Illinois (“Molina”) is working with Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport to expand access to health care for Molina Medicaid members in Illinois. Molina members are now able to access 17 additional hospitals across four counties, ensuring members can receive care when and where they need it.
“Adding Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport to our provider network aligns with our mission to increase access to high-quality, patient-centered care in Illinois,” said Kris Classen, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Illinois. “By working with trusted providers, we’re helping our members access convenient and comprehensive services in their local communities.”
In Illinois, 27% of people say that the distance to, or location of, medical professionals prevented or delayed access to health care. With the inclusion of Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport in its provider network, Molina is reducing barriers to care – namely, travel distance – which is closely linked to better health outcomes.
Through this work with Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport, members now have access to 55 Freeport area physicians and specialists, in addition to 300 nurses.
