WALNUT GROVE, CA – Dec. 17, 2021 – Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”),
today helped support River Delta Joint Unified School District (“River Delta”) schools and
students during the Harvest Delta Health Fair by providing 500 winter coats to children
attending Walnut Grove, Bates and Isleton Elementary Schools. Molina also presented a
$10,000 grant to fund access to meals, including holiday meals, and summer programs
for low income under-served children. In addition, La Familia Counseling Center (“La
Familia”) coordinated a COVID-19 vaccine clinic and information to community members
5 years old and up.
Molina, La Familia, and River Delta schools partnered for this event to help uplift
vulnerable communities during the holiday season. In the wake of the ongoing health
crisis, food scarcity and resource availability remain common concerns for California’s
most impacted families. Molina and River Delta’s partnership expands on Molina’s vision
of whole-health to rally support for communities in need during the holiday season. To
add some fun to the event, members of the Sacramento Republic provided soccer balls
and held a mini-soccer clinic for the youth in attendance.
“All Californians deserve to be happy and healthy this holiday season,” said Abbie Totten,
plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “We hope our partnership with River
Delta schools will relieve stress on our most vulnerable communities by providing warm
clothing and resources for meals to community members in need.”
“The kids and families in our schools can always use additional support this time of year,
especially as we continue navigating pandemic-related issues,” said Carrie Norris,
Principal for Walnut Grove Elementary School. “We are so grateful for our partnership
with The MolinaCares Accord and the added resources that it will bring to River Delta’s
families.”
“Events like this help us improve health outcomes by connecting with the community and
distributing information and resources to get more people vaccinated,” said Rachel Rios,
executive director of the La Familia Counseling Center. “We are proud to work alongside
other community partners like Molina to improve the overall health of kids and families in
the River Delta region.”
