Molina Healthcare of California Provides $10,000 Grant to Monterey Elementary School in Partnership with San Bernardino County and Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA, December 16, 2021 – Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”) provided a $10,000 grant to Monterey Elementary School, in San Bernardino, CA in partnership with San Bernardino County and San Bernardino County Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. The check presentation event took place on the last day of school, December 16, 2021, before children were released for the holiday break.

Supervisor Baca presented $10,000 donation from Molina to the Monterey Elementary School principal Diane Silva to be used to supplement school needs. In addition, San Bernardino local police and fire departments provided item giveaways to the 400 children enrolled at the school and In-N-Out had a truck on site to provide free food to staff and children.

The check presentation event took place as part of Molina’s ongoing efforts to address whole-health outcomes for communities across California. “In many cases, community health and wellness begins with the health of our children and the wellbeing of school environments where students spend the majority of their day,” said Abbie Totten, president of Molina Healthcare of California. “We’re thrilled to partner with San Bernardino Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. for a cause that supports students and schools amid the ongoing pandemic.”

Molina continues to participate in statewide, community-based efforts that uplift Californians and reduce challenges during the COVID-19 health crisis. Among groups experiencing extreme hardship are children and public school professionals who are navigating in-person learning, on-campus safety, and student health in a historic way.

By partnering with likeminded leaders like Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., Molina is working to improve student wellbeing and school readiness. “Real-world solutions often require grassroots efforts that improve communities from the ground up,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “I can think of no better way to address the needs of San Bernardino’s children and schools than to partner with organizations like Molina Healthcare for grants that offer a future of total health in our neighborhoods.”
