Los Angeles, June 24, 2024 – Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”) hosted a community event in Boyle Heights celebrating Molina’s partnership with Bienestar is Well-Being, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing hunger and food insecurity throughout California.

As part of the event, featuring Bienestar’s daily fresh produce giveaway, Molina presented a $25,000 donation to Bienestar in support of the organization’s commitment to providing healthy foods to under-resourced populations.

The grant, made possible through Molina’s collaboration with iHeartIMPACT, a community impact division of iHeartMedia, expands on Molina’s longtime commitment to addressing food insecurity.

“Celebrating and supporting the community is central to iHeart’s mission,” said Michael Preacher, president, partnerships and government initiatives, iHeartMedia. “iHeartIMPACT makes it possible to collaborate with dedicated brand partners like Molina and community organizations like Bienestar to truly make a difference for those who need it most.”

The funds donated to Bienestar will help provide hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families and community members across Southern California.

“Molina is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals across the state,” said Abbie Totten, plan president, Molina Healthcare of California. “A key component of that mission is addressing access to critical resources. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations like Bienestar and iHeartMedia that share our commitment to providing nutritious food to communities in need.”

Bienestar hosts daily food distributions Monday through Friday at several sites and Molina volunteers have supported many of these events as part of the organizations’ ongoing partnership. The program will now expand into additional Southern California locations.

“Through a powerful partnership with Molina and iHeartMedia, Bienestar is Well-being is able to  serve new communities, offering the gift of healthy, nutritious foods,” said John Schroer, executive director, Bienester is Well-Being. “Beyond sustenance, we are able to provide a lifeline of hope, demonstrating that well-being is attainable by all.”
