PHOENIX, Ariz. (November XX, 2025)Molina Healthcare of Arizona (“Molina”) has granted $10,000 to Hospice of the Valley to support its Memory Care Training program. The funding comes during National Family Caregivers Month and Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, highlighting the critical need for caregiver support, especially during the holiday season.

The grant will help Hospice of the Valley continue its program to train more than 4,000 memory care staff throughout our state — teaching effective communication techniques and strategies for managing challenging behaviors in people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This training is particularly valuable as the holiday season approaches and caregiver stress often intensifies.

“This generous grant from Molina will help us expand our reach and provide essential training to more caregivers across Arizona,” said Debbie Shumway, CEO of Hospice of the Valley. “Our goal is to ensure that every person living with dementia feels safe, valued and well cared for, and that starts with supporting the dedicated professionals who provide that care day in and day out.”

The Memory Care Training program is offered at no charge to the community and shares best practices in dementia care through engaging role-playing videos that depict real-life challenges. The Arizona Department of Health Services recently appointed Hospice of the Valley as a provider of memory care training for dementia caregivers, validating the quality and importance of their program.

“Caregivers are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system, providing countless hours of unpaid care to loved ones with memory conditions,” said Minnie Andrade, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Arizona. “Through this partnership with Hospice of the Valley, we’re addressing a critical need in our community by providing caregivers with the tools and resources they need to improve quality of life for both themselves and those they care for.”

The collaboration between Molina and Hospice of the Valley reflects both organizations’ commitment to addressing health-related social needs and supporting vulnerable populations. With approximately 53 million unpaid family caregivers in America, many of whom care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, this initiative addresses a significant public health need.
