SACRAMENTO, CA — Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”) supported GLO Preemies, a nonprofit
organization providing education and services for African-American families experiencing high-risk pregnancies, with a $10,000 grant and a donation of $30,000 worth of office space during a ribbon-cutting ceremony event on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Molina Healthcare of California president Abbie Totten presented GLO preemies founder and president Ashley Randolph with a $10,000 grant and, on behalf of Molina, donated 1,200 square feet of office space in the 2100 block of Harvard Street in Sacramento for GLO preemies to provide services for the community. Molina also donated office equipment, including cubicles, office chairs, supplies, and tables. The office is space is an interim location for the organization until GLO Preemies secures a permanent home. The partnership between Molina and GLO Preemies is part of a shared effort to address health inequities in Sacramento and respond to total health needs in the community.

“We’re passionate about providing support to organizations that understand the issues communities are dealing with amid the ongoing pandemic,” said Abbie Totten, president of Molina Healthcare of California. “Expectant mothers are navigating limited maternal care options during this challenging time and we’re proud to partner with a nonprofit that recognizes the additional barriers African-Americans face in healthcare access and education.”

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Molina recognizes that community hardships are often exacerbated along racial and ethnic lines. One example of this is demonstrated by African-American families dealing with high-risk pregnancies and little access to adequate care during the ongoing health crisis. GLO Preemies provides much needed support and services to families in-need

“This is more than a donation for GLO Preemies,” said Ashley Randolph, founder and president of GLO
Preemies. “This gives us an opportunity to help families and premature babies in a way that we otherwise could not. We are honored to receive such an important gift that is as meaningful to the organization as to the many families who rely on our services and support.”
