Miami (Oct. 25, 2022)Molina Healthcare of Florida (“Molina”) collaborated with local non-profit organizations to host two events in Miami celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, while providing resources to address gaps in access to food and health care among the Hispanic community.

On October 15, Molina and the Hispanic Coalition hosted a drive-through food distribution event that supported 500 local families. Volunteers distributed boxes of fresh produce and pantry staples like corn, bread, rice, fresh vegetables, pasta, canned goods and cereal. The food was provided by Farm Share, a nonprofit food bank supported, in part, by Molina.

On October 14, Molina joined Calle Ocho News for  its Celebrating Milestones festivities at The Havana Collection. The event took place in Little Havana’s colorful Rooster Alley where Hispanic artists, bands and dancers showcased the area’s diverse culture. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Hispanic Cultural Arts Center.

“Giving back to the communities we serve and live in is one of Molina’s top priorities, not only during Hispanic Heritage Month, but every day,” said Mike Jones, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Florida. “We were pleased to take part in the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations in Miami and to have the opportunity to thank Hispanic Floridians for their contributions to our state.”

National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. Latinos are the second-largest racial and ethnic group in the state of Florida, representing 26% of the population.

The Hispanic Heritage Month sponsorships are one part of Molina’s broader commitment to improving the health and well-being of underserved populations and building stronger local communities. To learn more about Molina’s work in the Florida community, visit MolinaCares.com/Florida.
