LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 24, 2024Molina Healthcare (“Molina”) committed its support to the Alzheimer’s Association for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s running September through December in communities across the nation. Molina’s donations totaling approximately $170,000 will fund walks in 22 cities. Money raised from the events will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Approximately 1 in 3 seniors will die with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. The disease kills more people than breast and prostate cancers combined. Studies show a trend of higher dementia rates in low-income populations, many of whom are Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

“Molina provides high-quality care to our many members navigating life with dementia, and we are proud to help expand the Alzheimer’s Association’s advocacy efforts for those suffering from the disease and the family members who take care of them,” said Dr. Jason Dees, EVP and chief medical officer, Molina Healthcare. “Molina staff are excited to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to show support for our members and their own loved ones who may be impacted by the disease.”

Molina is also a sponsor of the 2024 Unforgettable Tour, a stage production presented by the Alzheimer’s Association to raise awareness about this most common cause of dementia. The goal of the production is to draw more attention to the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment for a disease with a disproportionate impact on communities of color.
