Virtual Panel: Addressing the Care Fragmentation Crisis for Dually Eligible Individuals
November 1, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm UTC+0 Virtual Panel
Part II of the Medicaid Managed Care Webinar Series – Innovations in Medicaid with Support from MolinaCares Accord occurred on November 1, 2021.
The panel focused on Medicaid and Medicare dually eligible beneficiaries (duals) and how they consistently face fragmented care and have difficulty navigating the two programs. With the COVID-19 pandemic shining a spotlight on the many gaps in access to home and community-based services for duals, all while the number of dual beneficiaries continues to rise, the ability to effectively meet their wide-ranging health and social needs is increasingly important for Medicaid programs. States are currently facing challenges determining how to best serve the complex needs of duals and how to best integrate their care – what’s the right strategy and how do states implement it? This webinar will explore state strategies currently being deployed and their effectiveness, lessons from real world implementation, and how to overcome funding, administrative or legislative barriers to ensure programmatic success.
Our panel members Tom Betlach (Speire Healthcare Strategies), Carolyn Ingram (Molina Healthcare) and Jennifer Baron (Cityblock) will discuss how managed care plans, states and community-based organizations can work together to effectively integrate care for dual eligible individuals.
