Virtual Panel: Addressing Social Determinants of Health and Access to Care Against the Backdrop of a Pandemic.

The MolinaCares Accord, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of California, hosted a virtual panel titled Addressing Social Determinants of Health and Access to Care Against the Backdrop of a Pandemic. San Diego Board of Supervisors Chairman Nathan Fletcher offered welcome remarks before a panel of experts moderated by Feeding America’s Chief Government Relations Officer Vince Hall, who discussed the inequities exacerbated by the pandemic.
The San Diego-based panel examined COVID-19 through a local lens in terms of its long-term impact on physical and environmental factors impacting access to coverage and care. They focused on the critical need for cross-sector collaboration to ensure communities have access to high-quality care and services to improve health outcomes.
The panel of experts included Dr. Wilma Wooten, San Diego County public health officer, Rudolph A. Johnson, III, president and CEO of the Neighborhood House Association, and Dinora Reyna Gutierrez, executive director of the San Diego Organizing Project.
