TYLER, Tex., August 26, 2025 – Molina Healthcare of Texas hosted a sun safety event for senior tenants at Disciple Place Village in Tyler.

Older adults are among the most vulnerable to heat-related illness. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people aged 65 and older are at significantly higher risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke due to age-related changes in the body, chronic health conditions, and certain medications that affect temperature regulation. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports that most heat stroke deaths occur in individuals over age 50, with those 85 and older being at the highest risk.

Through this event, Molina aimed to help seniors learn about ways to stay safe during the extreme summer heat.
