Children received free holiday gifts

LUNA COUNTY, N.M., Dec. 18, 2024 – Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”) and partners co-hosted two holiday events in Deming and Columbus where 1,500 new toys and gifts were distributed to youth up to age 18.

“Molina was grateful to partner with Play Sharity to co-sponsor these holiday events,” said Kris Gomez, growth and community engagement manager, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. “With nearly a quarter of the population of Luna County living under the poverty level, Molina understands it can be difficult to provide gifts for underserved families and their children. Molina was thrilled to support these events and help spread joy in our valued Deming and Columbus communities.”

The “Joy for the Holidays” events, facilitated by Play Sharity and co-sponsored by Southwest Pediatric and Family Care, Capital Power Macho Springs Wind Facility and the Deming Fire Department, aimed to ensure children from Luna County had access to at least one holiday present. Youth also had an opportunity to interact with the Grinch and take a picture with Santa. Southwest Pediatric and Family Care was on-site to help interested attendees make appointments for child-well visits and adult annual physicals.

“Play Sharity was grateful for the opportunity to partner with so many amazing organizations in order to bring children of Luna County a toy this holiday season,” said Monica I. Rodriguez, executive director of Play Sharity Children’s Museum.
