The MolinaCares Accord Donates $50K to Heading Home Matching One Albuquerque Fund’s Grant in Support of New Mexicans Experiencing Homelessness

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Dec. 13, 2022 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of New Mexico (“Molina”), recently donated $50,000 to Heading Home – a non-profit organization that transitions individuals experiencing homelessness into stable housing – matching an earlier $50,000 grant from the One Albuquerque Fund.
Heading Home will use the $100,000 funding to expand its behavioral health and medical services through its Albuquerque Street Connect program. The MolinaCares grant is part of the MolinaCares for Families initiative, in which MolinaCares has committed over $400,000 to various community-based organizations to improve access to care statewide.
“We are honored to partner with One Albuquerque Fund to support Heading Home, an incredible organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of unhoused New Mexicans,” said Carolyn Ingram, plan president of Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. “MolinaCares is committed to helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness and confronting behavioral health issues on their own without access to care.
“The real magic of Heading Home’s programming is more than helping individuals navigate systems and placing families in homes, it is the cultivation of a relationship and trust that allows these greater outcomes to materialize,” said Hakim Bellamy, president of the board for One Albuquerque Fund. “This kind of ‘magic’ is a sincerity of effort that requires time and money. MolinaCares’ doubling of the One ABQ Fund’s initial investment, means Heading Home will have twice as much time and resource to do twice as much good.”

Heading Home’s Albuquerque Street Connect program is an outreach collaborative that assists individuals who have the highest records of utilization of emergency services and care, many of whom suffer from behavioral health issues, in establishing ongoing relationships that result in permanent supportive housing.
