SALT LAKE CITY – May 20, 2021The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Utah (“Molina”), donated $5,000 to YWCA Utah in support of after-school programs, as well as the purchase of food and supplies for YWCA members.

“The YWCA is grateful to MolinaCares for this donation,” said Liz Owens, chief executive officer of YWCA Utah. “With this grant, we have additional resources to continue fostering our youth through our after-school programs.”

YWCA Utah’s after-school programs provide safe, structured, and nurturing out-of-school academic and enrichment programming for homeless children living with their mothers in the YWCA’s domestic violence shelter. Each year approximately 110 children, ages 5 to 12, benefit from 52 weeks of research-based curricula designed to help mitigate the harmful effects of domestic violence exposure and promote positive youth development. The YWCA operates Utah’s only after-school program dedicated to serving homeless children of domestic violence survivors. As the state’s oldest and most comprehensive provider of domestic violence services, it’s uniquely qualified to serve this vulnerable population.
