VICTORVILLE, Calif. – May 7, 2022 – As part of their commitment to increase health equity in local communities, Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”) and Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) are partnering with TODEC Legal Center to support Medi-Cal’s expansion for older, low-income Californians over 50 regardless of immigration status beginning May 1st, 2022. The three organizations announced their partnership and the“Get Covered” campaign during press conferences at TODEC Legal Center offices in Coachella and Victorville.

The partnership prioritizes outreach and education efforts to California communities about Medi-Cal’s expansion which went into effect on May 1,2022. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to connect families to needed care and increase the overall health and well-being of local neighborhoods. With the Medi-Cal expansion, newly eligible Californians are able to access no-cost health services that are critical to improving whole-person care including, doctor visits, prescriptions, vision care and hospital stays.

“Our “Get Covered” campaign brings local communities one step closer to achieving health equity,” said Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “By partnering with organizations with a strong community presence like IEHP and TODEC to deliver crucial information about the Medi-Cal expansion, we can improve care access and overall health through trusted community resources.”

“Providing quality, trusted healthcare services to all who seek it, regardless of their citizenship status is the right thing to do,” said Jarrod McNaughton, IEHP Chief Executive Officer. “Partnering with Molina and TODEC Legal Center establishes a supportive and safe environment to improve community health and welcomes more of our family, friends and neighbors with open arms to the care they deserve.”

“Empowering the Inland Empire’s immigrant community is our number one priority and increasing health care access is a huge part of that mission,” said Luz Gallegos, CEO of TODEC Legal Center. “We greatly appreciate this partnership with Molina and IHEP that will make a notable difference for many Californians.”

The press conferences were attended by Cameron Smyth, VP of Government Relations of Molina Healthcare Inc., Dr. Ernesto Campos of IHEP and Luz Gallegos of TODEC Legal Center.
