DETROIT, Mich. April 30, 2021 —The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Michigan, has donated $1,000 to Food Rescue US to support efforts to fight hunger, raise awareness about food insecurity in Wayne County and give vulnerable populations access to food during these unprecedented times.
Food Rescue US is committed to eliminating food waste by directly transferring fresh, usable surplus food from grocers, restaurants and other local business to agencies serving those in need. The MolinaCares donation will cover costs such as transportation, delivery, food recovery fees, and unexpected costs.
“Food Rescue US – Detroit has created a community of dedicated food donors and rescuers, committed to helping end hunger while reducing food waste,” said Carol Shattuck, CEO of Food Rescue US. “This generous gift will allow us to support our continued growth, secure new food donations, and feed those that are food insecure.”
