LONG BEACH –  Mar. 9, 2022Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”), as part of their efforts to increase health equity and resiliency in California communities, donated furniture and supplies over the past week to multiple community based organization partners in the Inland Empire. Donated supplies included an array of furniture, kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, microwave ovens and standard office items needed among various organization sites.

The Molina Community Engagement Team began their efforts by identifying community partners most in need of supplies which included the following sites: Family Assist Program (FAP), Path of Life Ministries (POLM), TODEC Legal Center, Goodwill Industries, and Lincoln Elementary School. With adequate supplies and furniture, these sites are better equipped to provide critical services to the communities that rely on them.

FAP received multiple industrial-sized refrigerators and microwaves. POLM received multiple furniture pieces including a credenza and office chairs, as well as an industrial microwave. TODEC Legal Center received 40 office chairs and many other furniture items including meeting and lunch tables, and a bookshelf. Goodwill Industries received an 18 foot Christmas tree for holiday décor.

Finally, Lincoln Elementary School received a massive array of furniture and supply items needed to reopen the school library and support other school programs including desks, bookshelves, dry-erase boards, chairs and dozens of office supply needs.

“Lincoln Elementary received two grand desks, filing cabinets and shelving stands. Each of these units will be used in our support offices. These offices house a literacy coach who works will the most challenged students and collaborate with educators to grow their instructional practices and serve as meeting rooms for external visits for student counseling, CPS investigations, individual student testing etc. The donated furniture will provide adequate and safe office access,” said Ramon Velasco, Principal of Lincoln Elementary School.

“We also received eight tables and 18 chairs that will serve to support our school library. We have not been able to use the school library for 24 months due to the pandemic and thus had to use that space for Isolation room with limited furniture. It is now time to regain student access to books, computers, and a librarian to given them proper access. Those donated tables and chairs will greatly benefit our school ensuring students have a safe and comfortable place to learn.

We are extremely grateful for all the many supplies and absolutely the generosity extended to Lincoln Elementary School. Thank you from a grateful staff, community and Administration for your generosity and creating hope for us.”

Molina’s donation speaks to their ongoing commitment to uplift community based organizations and schools that respond to the whole health needs of families in the Inland Empire.

“Community based organizations are vital to the success and well-being of communities across California,” said Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “Families rely on neighborhood organizations they trust and it’s important that these organizations have all of the supplies they need to serve their respective communities.”

Molina helped each organization load up donated items over the past week to be put to use at each site in the immediate future.
