MECCA, CA – Dec. 16, 2021 – The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of California (“Molina”), helped support Desert Recreation District’s holiday food and gift distribution event that provided 50 pre-selected families with meals, winter coats and other resources.
MolinaCares donated 150 jackets for children through Operation Warm in collaboration with Desert Recreation District, along with 150 bags to carry each donation bundle. Molina and Desert Recreation District partnered for this event to help uplift vulnerable communities during the holiday season. In the wake of the ongoing health crisis, food scarcity and resource availability remain common concerns for California’s most impacted families.
Molina and Desert Recreation District’s partnership expands on their shared vision of whole-health to rally support for communities in-need during the holiday season. “Getting California back to normal after a time of great hardship starts with our most vulnerable communities” said Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California. “Our partnership with Desert Recreation District endeavors to rebuild health outcomes for families by providing food and gifts during the holidays.” As part of Desert Recreation District’s efforts to serve the Greater Coachella Valley community, 50 families were identified to receive the donation bundle.
In addition to their numerous resource programs and services, Desert Recreation District and Molina partnered to expand their impact and reach during the holiday season. “Our community needs additional support this time of year, especially as we continue navigating pandemic-related issues,” said Noelle Furon, public information and marketing officer of Desert Recreation District. “We are so grateful for our partnership with MolinaCares Accord and others for the important benefits that will be brought to Riverside County’s most in-need families.”
